Sometimes the simplest moments become the ones we remember most, and there are summers that stay with us long after they have passed.
Warm days, familiar places, and the people who made them special can remain with us for a lifetime.

Summer Memories began when I was about fourteen. I made it up at the piano and never wrote it down. I simply played it, probably every day, and my mum loved it.
It never had a name. She would ask me to “play me that song” or “play me my song”, and we both knew exactly what she meant.
When I began publishing my music in 2022, I decided it was finally time to write this piece down and share it with the world.
My mum, Susan, had died in 2001, so I published it as Susan’s Song in her memory.
When I later created The English Garden Collection, I wanted the piece to have a place there too. I renamed it Summer Memories because some of my happiest memories of summers are of time spent with my mum. She was a teacher, so the summer holidays were our time together.
Musically, this is a very early piece of mine. It has all the innocence of something I created when I was fourteen. But the memories it holds are precious to me, which is why this little piece has stayed with me for so many years.
