Sunrise in Bloom began with the idea of creating a piece that would feel as though it was constantly unfolding. I wanted the music to have a natural sense of movement, with ideas gradually emerging and developing rather than arriving all at once.
The movement of the piano reflects the way morning light seems to spread through a field, revealing more colour and detail as the day begins.
The changing textures and movement between the hands give the music its sense of momentum, allowing the piece to grow from its opening phrases into something fuller and more expansive.
