The Light That Remains

Some things stay with us long after the moment has passed.

There is something quietly comforting in what remains, even when everything around us has changed. A feeling, a memory, or a small trace of something once held close.

The Light That Remains unfolds with a romantic-era waltz-style bass line and a lyrical melody, creating a delicate atmosphere of calm reflection and quiet hope. Intimate and dreamlike, it is a gentle reminder that not everything fades away.

Some musical influences remain with us, shaping the way we write without us even realising it.

Growing up learning piano, Chopin was one of my favourite composers to play, particularly his waltzes.

I think that early love of his music has stayed with me, perhaps explaining why I find myself returning to the waltz so often in my own compositions. There is a definite Chopin influence in The Light That Remains, but while the piece is very much my own, those early influences have become part of my musical voice.
