Starlight
Some nights seem to come alive with light.
Starlight evokes the wonder of looking up into a vast night sky, where distant points of light shimmer, move and disappear.
The music flows through rising and falling figures that streak across the texture like shooting stars. Bright, delicate and full of movement, it captures those fleeting moments of light that seem to appear from nowhere, then vanish into the night.

Starlight grew from the simple idea of creating a piece that felt like looking up into a clear night sky. I wanted the music to be spacious and luminous, with a sense of wonder and movement rather than drama.
As the piece developed, I became drawn to the way the music could rise and fall through the piano, creating brief flashes of brightness within the wider texture. Those sweeping movements began to suggest shooting stars, appearing suddenly, tracing a path across the sky and disappearing just as quickly.
The piece is less about telling a story than creating a sense of space and possibility. I wanted it to feel as though the night sky were unfolding above you, with each new phrase revealing another moment of light.
