The piece captures that fleeting moment when something beautiful appears in the sky, transforming the landscape for a little while before it disappears again.

Rainbows was built around the shape and movement of a rainbow. The opening broken chords rise and fall in an arching pattern, echoing the curve of a rainbow.
The middle section becomes darker, suggesting the clouds and rain that make the rainbow possible. The opening idea then returns towards the end, bringing the piece back to its original image.
