Dark Waters draws us into a world of shadow, stillness and quiet mystery, where the surface reveals very little of what lies below.
Slowly moving piano textures create a sense of depth and suspended motion, while the melody seems to rise briefly through the darkness before disappearing again. Brooding yet restrained, the piece invites us into a place where silence can feel as powerful as sound.

Dark Waters is one of those pieces I have never quite been able to explain.
It is, on the surface, a very simple piece, yet for some reason it has become one of my favourites.
I can play it in completely different ways depending on how I feel. Sometimes I play it very slowly, allowing the music to become deeply emotional and introspective. At other times, I find myself playing it faster and lighter, bringing out something much more flowing and understated.
I don’t really know what it is about this piece that speaks to me so strongly. There is simply something in the music that seems to find its way straight to my heart, and perhaps that is enough.
